Understanding the Mechanics of Value
When you apply for a logbook loan or car financing, the engine capacity (CC) is one of the first things our valuers look at. But it isn't just about "bigger is better."
Why CC Matters
Engine size directly correlates with two things: Resale Demand and Importation Cost. In Kenya, a 1500cc engine (like in a Toyota Premio or Fielder) is highly liquid—it sells fast and retains value. A 4000cc V8 has higher luxury value but a smaller pool of buyers due to fuel costs.
Valuation Tiers
- 1000cc - 1500cc: High demand, high percentage (up to 70% easily approved).
- 1600cc - 2500cc: Solid mid-range, standard valuation.
- 3000cc+: Specialized luxury valuation; limits are based on mechanical health and verified service history.
At Together As One, we use Market Value. This means if the market currently loves fuel-efficient 1300cc hybrids, we value them accordingly, giving you a higher loan limit than lenders who only look at the original purchase price.
